The sun is shining, the lake is full, the days are long … you know what season it is? Foxtail Season! That’s right, along with all the good things that come with spring and summer, for pet owners, foxtail season is unfortunately foremost in our minds. While most people think of dogs getting foxtails, the spiny little grass seeds are also a bane for outdoor cats, horses, rabbits and any furry creature that wanders through them. For an in-depth article about what foxtails are (did you know that foxtails are rare on the east coast, while very common here in the west?), and what can happen to your pet if a foxtail intrusion is left untreated, check out this issue of The Whole Dog Journal. There are also tips on recognizing symptoms and preventing foxtail growth in your yard.
One way to diminish foxtails, and other nasty weeds, in your yard is to keep everything mowed and trimmed. If your string trimmer or mower needs attention to run its best, bring it in to Rainbow Ag’s Service Department! Rainbow’s skilled technicians can tune up that equipment and get it ready to whack those foxtails! Or, treat yourself to a brand-new tool! Rainbow’s Outdoor Power department has everything you need to keep your yard looking great, and foxtail free, including the new electric trimmers and chain saws! Also, there’s only a few days left in the Honda Spring Savings Event – get special pricing on Honda mowers and power equipment, and an extra year of warranty too! Good until May 31 only!
Don’t forget that this is also the season for Dads and Grads! Whether your graduate is celebrating finishing Kindergarten, or medical school, there is a sure-to-please gift at Rainbow Ag! Clothing, boots, jewelry, home décor and gift items make the perfect way to say, Congrats! You Made It! And don’t forget all the wonderful Dads in our lives – Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17. Dad would look great in a new Western shirt or a new Stetson, wouldn’t he?
Do you and your dog enjoy going to a dog park? Dog parks can be wonderful places to let your pup play and interact with other dogs and people, but always take into account your dog’s temperament and the situation at the park. It is not the perfect situation for everyone! One way to decide if the dog park is for you and your dog, is to learn about dog body language, and watch for signs that your dog – or other dogs there – are having a good time, or not! To learn more about dog park body language, check out this advice from the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. You might also appreciate this video which takes a close look at the body language of a dog who is about to bite.
