It’s that wonderful time of the year – so much happening and we all want to share that fun with our best friends. Whether your best buddy is a dog, cat or hamster … or snake, llama or pony … Rainbow has something to make everyone’s season bright. There’s a lot going on this coming month at your local Rainbow store – Sales, Parties, Pet Photos, Treats!
Of course first up, Thanksgiving! Make yours safe and avoid making your veterinarian work on the holiday by being aware of your pets diet. Thanksgiving coincides with an uptick in emergency vet visits across the U.S. because of the extra, often unsafe “human” food that dogs end up consuming at this time of year. That doesn’t have to be the case for your pet, if you prepare your dog’s menu by taking these proper precautions NOT to serve something potentially unhealthy, or worse, toxic.

Next up, we are all excited to welcome back, in person, SANTA! SNAP’s (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) Pet Photos With Santa returns on December 3. Get a special keepsake photo with critter-loving Santa. All donations go to all-volunteer SNAP, an organization that does wonderful work all year long. SNAP strives to increase spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs in inland Mendocino County. They provide direct financial assistance to those people who are caring for animals and cannot afford the fees.
As an added bonus, get 20% off your purchase that day at Rainbow if you get a Pet Photo!
It’s cold out there! When you bundle up to take your dog on a morning walk, you might wonder if she needs a coat? Certain types of dogs are naturally suited up for cold and snow, such as Huskies and Malamutes with their dense, thick coats, but even they can get hypothermia or frostbite if the situation is bad enough. Small dogs, thin dogs and senior pets are all likely to appreciate a warm jacket. Learn more about choosing a coat for your dog in this article courtesy of Hills Pet Food: Do Dogs Need Winter Coats?
